Hectic

Hi guys! I gave the place a huge makeover since I was tired of studying and decided to go do something not school-related. Because if I do, I think my head will explode, no kidding. Classes are extra hard these times since we're trying to chase project deadlines and also deal with stressed out teachers who's probably had enough of us already.

Summer, oh dear Summer, where art thou?

I'm definitely craving Summer, not just because of the currently cold weather, but also because I just want school to end! And hopefully I could finally, finally get some time to just write and read. No, not essays and homeworks, but stories and books that have been put on hold.

Well, anyways, watch out for this week's Band Explosion Friday because it's going to be totally awesome! :D Let's all hope you and I will make it past this week. Oh and hey the MAYDAY PARADE CONCERT IS NEARING! I need a huge break from all this school stuff and just release some fangirl hormones! ;)

As you may have noticed, I’ve been dedicating some posts for my idols and favorite band members whenever their birthday comes. Well, today, I’ll also be dedicating a special post for one of my idols. He may not be famous and his job might not be like Tom Hiddleston’s, but to me, my mom, and my siblings, he’s the best writer slash editor slash cook slash dish washer slash video game player slash movie picker slash midnight snack buyer slash DAD ever!

And he’s celebrating his birthday today! :)

I cancelled two practices in school today just to be at home for his birthday, and I also didn’t post anything yesterday because I wanted to post today.

Yeah, so, hey dad, if you’re reading this; thanks so much for everything. The big ones like raising me and working for the money we use daily and for being a fun dad. But thanks for the small ones too, like making me breakfast when mom is too tired to, washing the dishes in the morning for me because I have to catch the bus, and those little talks we have with Ella during dinner times when it’s just the three of us.

I know I don’t say this a lot, but I love you and mom to bits and pieces! Saying you guys are the best parents ever is really cliché, so I’m just gonna say this; I’m grateful that Heavenly Father gave me you guys. And I could never have wished for any other set of parents. :)

Band Explosion Friday 022114

Greetings! Since today marks the end of a wonderful week, I want to introduce a new type of update that I will be putting up regularly starting today. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Band Explosion Friday!

Or BEF for short. So, basically, once very Friday of the month, I’ll be introducing a band and some of my favorite songs by them, in the hopes of bringing you, my lovely (probably non-existent) readers, more music from the Alternative and Post-hardcore genre.

A great number of people judge this genre so much that it annoys me. Whenever some acquaintances of mine find out I listen to this kind of music, they automatically assume I have hidden tattoos or body piercings. Giving me a reason to hate society once more. I’m kidding! ;)

So, hopefully, through this little segment, I’ll be able to open a few number of people’s minds into the beautiful music bands under Alternative, Rock, and Post-hardcore can make.

So, for this week’s Band, I chose *drumrolls* Secondhand Serenade! :)

Thanks to Wikipedia, here’s a little info about the band. I didn’t bother to pretend I know everything about them, since personally, I listen to the band’s music rather than trying to memorize everything about them and brag about it over the internet (oops).

“Secondhand Serenade is an acoustic rock band, led by vocalist, pianist and guitarist John Vesely. Vesely has released three studio albums to date under the name Secondhand Serenade: Awake in 2007, A Twist in My Story in 2008 and Hear Me Now in 2010. The debut album used multitrack recording to create the sound of a band using technology, while the second album took a different path, using a proper band and synthesizers to establish a more accomplished sound.”

Here’s the band logo that I was supposed to draw but procrastinated a lot and ended up just looking it up on Google:

Here are my Top 5 songs by the band:
1.    Fall For You (this goes way back in my elementary days)
2.    Maybe (I recently found out about this song and I definitely love it)
3.    Why (Quite the emotional one, but I enjoyed the Piano part)
4.    Like a Knife (My bestfriend’s personal favorite which I have come to love)
5.    Tonight

Secondhand Serenade is probably one of the first ever bands I listened to. I first heard about them when I came across a song of theirs on my best friend’s phone. Coincidentally, I was facing a young tween crush dilemma that time and the song fit my situation so much; being the 11 year old who thought that experiencing the pain of love meant not being noticed by my crush.

I’m moving on because that last sentence gave me cringe attacks. Anyways, I don’t really know all of the songs by Secondhand, since I only listen to a few selected. It’s not one of my favorite bands, but their vocalist is amazing and I love how it’s acoustic rock.

Alright, that’s about it. I hope you like this week’s BEF, and I’ll see you soon! :)

Guess what came in the mail today? If you said the new ballers I’ve been waiting for 9862674655 days ago, then you are a genius, my friend! My All Time Low and Pierce the Veil ballers came in the mail today!
I modeled them with my sister! I’m holding up the ATL one and she’s holding up the PtV.

They’re amazing! So a huge thanks to the people behind Bandoodles Merch who support my band merch needs and who happens to be very nice people. I don’t think they ship worldwide just yet,  but check out their amazing collection of band ballers, band shirts, and band members (whoops).

Weightless

Monday, February 10, 2014 2 Comments A+ a-

Okay, so I'm just gonna put it out there straight and say that this week was one of my worsts. It started last Sunday, when I felt unfocused and all bubbly inside because of a boy (I'm so stereotypical sometimes it worries me). Then I woke up on Monday feeling dizzy, so I stayed home. Which was a bad idea because I missed a double-period Math, two quizzes, and an activity. Tuesday was extremely hectic since I had to catch up with everything. And unfortunately, severe headaches knocked me down last Wednesday, causing me to stay home again. I had to catch up with everything on Thursday again.

But, I've been coping, through one of my favorite All Time Low songs called "Weightless". It's an awesome song and the music video is amazing! Check it out by clicking the photo below.

It totally pumps me up and reminds me of my 2014 goals. Anyways, summer is less than two months away! I'm psyched to finally focus on learning the Bass Guitar and Piano. Also, to get my time to read more books!

That's it for now. I'm posting a book review of one of my favorite teen fic book soon, so watch out for that! :)

Dates, Stake Sems, and Book Hauls!

Sunday, February 02, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

As soon as I got home yesterday, I really wanted to grab my laptop and blog about my amazing day, but I was dead tired and my eyelids betrayed me. So, I woke up (not-so) extra early today to write! First of all, belated Happy Birthday to a British curly cupcake (the next post is dedicated to him)!

Alright, so yesterday, me, my mom, and my sister went to the mall and had a little Mother-Daughters Day. Generally, I just really needed to buy some materials for school, but then we ended up having a mini book haul with my mom and then eating out at Pizza Hut right after. And yes, you’ve read it right; I did a mini book haul yesterday!

All the books I’ve bought were really cheap thanks to Book Sale and their awesome crew for allowing me to sit on the floor and dig, literally dig on the shelves. Although, the negative side of this is that the covers aren’t exactly brand new. A few were slightly damaged, so I bought some wrapping paper and will wrap them up a little later. Thus, I will not be posting the photos of the books just yet.

Also, last night I attended our Stake Seminary! It was really fun and I made new found friends. Hopefully, I’ll see those faces at Youth Conference, which I’m really excited about! (Want to learn more? Visit lds.org or mormon.org)

And that’s it! I’m sorry I don’t have photos from yesterday; I honestly thought we were just going to buy school supplies. Haha. Anyways, since yesterday wasn’t much of a book haul, I’ll be doing another huge one by the end of February, hopefully. See you guys soon and I hope you guys had a great weekend too! J
