Amaranthine
I realized it pretty late, but my blog just turned 2! I can't believe I've been at it for 2 years. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't joined the list of failed websites I create and delete every now and then. Anyway, as you may (or may not) notice, I gave the blog another major template change. I haven't touched the overall look of the place in a while and I decided to do it as some sort of celebration.
So here's to 2 years of blogging!
My blog's name has changed from Sempiternal Reader, to Lumos!, to Adventures with Andrea, and finally, to a title I thought of only an hour ago; Amaranthine.
(My url stays the same; sempiternal-reader.blogspot.com, a choice I'm afraid I will forever be stuck with.)
Continuing, amaranthine is one of the prettiest words I've ever encountered. Then again, sempiternal was once on that list too, as well as flabbergasted. Anyway, according to the Free Dictionary, amaranthine is an adjective that has 3 possible meanings.
- Of, relating to, or resembling an amaranth.
- Eternally beautiful and unfading; everlasting
- deep purple-red
Amaranth happens to be a perennial plant (I had to Google this). Initially I thought the word amaranthine was only meant to describe color, but I was (very) excited (yes, excited) to know that it also meant eternal or everlasting or sempiternal.
It's not me that's eternally beautiful and unfading (trust me, I am not), but my words and stories. Or at least I hope them to be. I want my blog to be some kind of garden of flowers that I can re-visit when I'm older and it give me an idea of how much I've grown over the past years. The only difference it has from an actual garden is that my words will never wilt.
Unless there will come a time that everything on the internet will be obliterated, my words will always be here.
Kind of scary, really, knowing that everything I type down future me will read. But it's also kind of enlightening, knowing that I'm leaving something. Maybe not of significance to a lot of people, but it is to me.
Yeah, so that's that. Welcome to 2016, Amaranthine. A newborn (not really) baby (not really) blog.
I'll probably change the name again someday soon (knowing me, it'll be about 3 months give or take).
But for now, let's stick to this.
Here's to a more meaningful and interesting blog post soon! Because I have been posting so much rambling crap lately.
