An Open Letter to Santa

Tuesday, December 22, 2015 1 Comments A+ a-

Totally irrelevant to the post, but a very important message.

If you wait a little while, virtual snow starts falling. Nothing makes me feel Christmas-y than snow. Although I've never actually experienced snow before. Santa, would it be possible to ask for snow in the Philippines? Why, yes, Andrea, it would be possible to ask for snow here, but it would be impossible for it to actually happen.

That's some sick climate change issues if it would.

Anyway, I'm writing an open letter to Santa.

"The Santa Talk"

Saturday, December 19, 2015 2 Comments A+ a-

I was running out of blog post ideas for 12POC a few days back, so being the very wise human being that I am claim to be, I googled some ideas. I came across one that I just couldn't forget and it's number 32 of this list: How to have "the Santa talk" with your children (Father Christmas to some).

It made me wonder (such me, much curious), how would I tell my children about Santa's.. existence? Would I even tell them? To my future kids (I scared myself while typing this), if you're reading this, friendly reminder that I was only almost 17 when I wrote this. And that this is really, really weird for me.

Writing Struggles

Friday, December 18, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

I've got a completely different blog post planned for today, but I've been procrastinating all morning and I came to the conclusion that I think I'll set aside the plans for today and just write what I feel like writing, which is this, right now. First and foremost, school's out! Our Christmas break has finally arrived and nothing is in the way of my binge-watching. Second, 7 days until Christmas! I can't even believe December is about to come to an end. I've been loving the weather and the awesome Christmas lights outside.

Anyway, onto the actual content I want to write.

I can't write.

Christmas Gift Ideas For Him

Wednesday, December 16, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

If it wasn't obvious yet, of course I don't actually intend to take this list seriously (really though, do I even take anything seriously?). Again, this post is meant to be just really fun (I try). Well, for one, I'm only turning 17 and don't actually have a stable source of income apart from my parents. Also, just letting you know first hand that I am the world's suckiest gift giver. I mean it.

Watch me attempt and fail to make a "Gift Ideas for Him" post. Let us begin!

Compilation of [Funny] Christmas Cards

Sunday, December 13, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Three cheers for managing to get three posts up! Today's Christmas-y post is a compilation of Christmas Cards! I personally am not very fond of getting Hallmark cards on Christmas because hey, I want you to be there to greet me in person. But nevertheless, Christmas cards are really fun [and funny]! So I scoured the internet in search of the best (mostly just funniest) Christmas Cards!

Count how many times I said Christmas.

The Christmas Tag!

Saturday, December 12, 2015 1 Comments A+ a-

I may or may not have forgotten to mention the tag I'm doing for the entirety of December, my bad. Anyway, I'm (re)doing a tag created by Ali of Aliology called the 12 Posts of Christmas. I deliberately failed to do this tag last year, so I shall try again. I failed to make a separate post explaining the actual tag, so I'll just link you to my post last year. As for my second post for the tag, I'm doing another tag (how complex)!

Okay so I'm going to be completely honest and admit that I googled "Christmas blog post ideas". I found the Christmas Tag done by the people behind Makeup Savvy and created by Becky of Milk Bubble Tea. I also took some questions from the Christmas Tag from Makeup Pixi3

It's basically just Christmas-y questions that I have to answer. I tag whoever is reading this right now and all those who have just run out of Christmas post ideas. I'll put the questions at the bottom of the post so that you guys could copy and paste it whenever ya feel like it.

A Christmas Playlist for the Punk Rock

Sunday, December 06, 2015 7 Comments A+ a-

You have no idea how long I've been waiting to finally write about my Christmas playlist! I've been compiling songs since November. And just a little disclaimer, although it doesn't sound like it, the title is kind of meant to be sarcastic 'cause I ain't really punk rock (go ask my collection of cartoon posters and stuffed puffin toys). Of course you don't have to be punk rock to listen to these songs, but if you're tired of all the usual Christmas cheers, then this is for you.

002: Fears

Friday, November 20, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

This blog post was inspired by a video created by Will Darbyshire called Fear, which I highly suggest that you watch if you have the time because it is the most accurate representation of how I've been feeling recently.

One of the best ways to get rid of fear is by actually doing what you fear, but personally, I also think that talking about it is the second best option. You have to recognize what you fear, see why you fear it, and whether you like it or not, you have to face it.

I have a lot of wonderful friends but sometimes I just feel like I couldn't talk to them about these kind of things, so I decided to write it down here in the hopes that while doing so, I'll feel better and maybe I could make other people feel better as well by letting them know they're not alone.

001: Can I Offer You A Hot Beverage?

Saturday, November 14, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

"When people are upset, the cultural convention is to bring them a hot beverage."
"Social protocol states when a friend is upset, you offer them a hot beverage, such as tea."
"As you're in distress, it would be customary for me to offer you a hot beverage."
- Sheldon Lee Cooper, Ph.D., Sc.D.

Events of yesterday, the third and last Friday the 13th of 2015, has been circling the internet and causing reactions from every form of social media. This post isn't an analyzation of what could have possibly been inside those terrorists' head nor a speculative and science-y post about that 7.0 earthquake nor a hate post on ISIS. This is about how I feel about what's happening. And how much I need a hot beverage because the world doesn't stop because of these worldwide issues.

November 24

I found myself writing much more frequently ever since my mom's accident. I hate calling it an accident. People tend to sympathize with the drunk driver who accidentally killed my mother because it was an accident. And accidents happen. It wasn't an accident it was a vehicular manslaughter, a negligent homicide.

000: Bamboozled

A few more hours until November! Besides marking the start of NaNoWriMo, November also means Christmas is just an entire month away. Next thing you know, it's already 2016. This year went by so fast for me. So many things changed in a span of 11 months; I met a lot of wonderful people, I lost touch with a few as well, I had a lot of adventures (*cough* failed microwave mug cakes *cough*), I found myself happily in a relationship with a wonderful person, I'm getting better at handling stress (okay, this is a bit of a lie), and I started to play table tennis again. I can't express how much I've changed over the past few months.

There's just one thing I'm still completely unsure about though; College.

I don't even know where to start. Supposedly, at this point I have already chosen a good university, took the entrance exam, and am anxiously waiting for a positive response. But that's not the case. Due to the shifting of the curriculum I'm under, I have to go through 2 more years of high school before I get to step onto college.

Then what the hell are you so worried about? You've got 2 more years to decide on all that college stuff!

Well, not exactly. See, the 2 additional years are supposed to help us be more apt to whatever course we're getting in college. So, basically the need to decide what you want to take up after 2 years is pretty vital since you are to study subjects that will prepare you for just that. I'm not sure I'm ready to make that big of a decision because 1. I'm fickle, and 2. I have absolutely no idea what I want to be or what I want to do with my life.

What if, say I choose Creative Writing or English now, but then after those additional 2 years in high school I realize that my heart belongs to Theater Arts? I'm not ready for that big of a commitment. I don't trust myself with big decisions like this because I can't even deal with small ones right now. Don't believe me? My family and I were to eat lunch out a few days back and I spent, and I shit you not, 10 minutes trying to choose which shirt I was going to wear.

Fine, that doesn't prove anything. But, the story isn't over. Instead of picking up a clean shirt from my closet, I realize I want to wear (an awesome) shirt that I already wore the day before. So I pick up a shirt from my dirty clothes hamper. Little did I know that everyone was going to dress up and there I was wearing a dirty shirt with a small food stain from the last time I wore it.

Do you see now? That was such a small decision and I managed to mess it up.

Oh, but the college complication doesn't stop there. No, it just had to be more complicated than that. See, the school I'm in right now will only cater students who choose to study courses under Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. I'm not entirely sure I can survive 2 more years of all that, let alone the entirety of my college years. But I don't want to leave my school. I know forcing myself to take up something my heart's not into is a terrible idea, but I just can't leave my alma mater. I have made a lot of friends and memories there. I also don't want to leave because my significant other is staying. I know my choices shouldn't depend on someone else's, but I want to be where he is.

I'm going to forget I actually typed down that last part because that was hella cheesy. Look at that photo in the beginning of this blog post. See how squeezed it is? Looks and feels weird, right? That's me. Right now. Yes. Anyway, if there's  word to describe what I'm feeling right now.

Bamboozled.

Andrea

7 Reasons Why You Should Participate in NaNoWriMo

Thursday, October 22, 2015 4 Comments A+ a-

If you're one of those people who are still considering if they should join NaNoWriMo this November, welp, this is for you!

I think it's pretty impossible that you still have no idea what NaNoWriMo is considering the number of times I've mentioned it here on my blog. But here's an infographic by InstaScribe to give you the gist of this wonderful, monkey-barrels of fun event:

I've been participating in NaNoWriMo since 2010 (3 years on the Young Writer's Program, a year on the full site). This is going to be my 5th NaNoWriMo and I'm not going to stop participating anytime soon. Here are 7 reasons why you should too!

I'm making these up as I go, so if I start to stop making sense, please bear with me. The previous sentence already sounds weird.

What a Time to Be Alive!

Sunday, October 18, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

It's weird how storms almost always bring me back to blogging. I'm not exactly sure if it's the feeling of your fingers on a keyboard while your body is wrapped in a warm blanket, a mug of hot chocolate near you, and the sound of rain drops hitting your window pane OR if it's just because my butt hurts from sitting in one position watching episode after episode of Once Upon a Time, trying desperately to catch up (I'm still stuck in season 3, so no spoilers please).

It's probably the latter.

But hey, I'm back! Can you believe my last post was a few days before school started? And now it's the middle of the school year! Man, time flies when you're lazy a student. I'm not entirely sure what this post will contain, I'm making it up as I go, but instead of blabbering on about what caused my absence (ya'll know it's school), I'll talk about how amazing this time of the year is.

May Mini-Reviews | Summer Ender Post

Wednesday, May 27, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

If you've seen my past book reviews, they weren't really legit reviews and was actually more or rants. I wanted to try again and this time try to be constructive (or something). To mark the end of this month, here is a collection of all the short reviews I wrote during the month of May. The end of this month also signifies the end of summer for me *cries*.

Its been really fun and I didn't regret a single day spent lazying around. I can't say I'm ready for school again, but I am willing to tackle it again (isn't that kind of the same thing?)

Anyway, beyond the Read More point is the collection of May Reviews, so click away! I've had a good reading month (most of the books were rated 4-5 stars) and I'm looking forward to reading more, hopefully school schedules will permit.

Also, all the mini-reviews are spoiler free, so worry not! But, if you've already read the books below and want a little feel fest and basically want to vent out on your feels about the book as well, click on the Spoiler Section button below each review!

Back to School Blues

Sunday, May 24, 2015 5 Comments A+ a-

I've got less than a week left before we go back to school which sucks. I feel like all my internet friends are celebrating the end of their finals and the start of their summer.

And I'm just here like..

With school back, I probably won't be updating regularly again or at all. Which, again, sucks. I'm entering 10th Grade this year which is a pretty big thing because we're the Philipines' first batch to undergo K to 12 curriculum. Basically, we're lab rats being experimented on. Not really very uplifting.

Anyway, they changed our class schedules to 7AM - 5PM. School starts on June 1 and officially ends on April 1.

I'm trying to cage my annoyance on the matter, but I can't help but feel.. sucky.

Anyway, I just wanted to apologize in advance for my absence (and probably the obliteration of my brain as well). I really hope I can cope with the new schedules and that I can still squeeze in activities such as blogging and reading books other than textbooks.

Also, I'll be posting kind of a wrap-up for the last month of May. It's a book-ish wrap-up, though. Sorry if that doesn't sound so interesting, but yeah, I think that'll be my last post for quite a while as I'm facing the gallows.

Wish me luck and I hope you guys have a great summer!

Andrea

P.S.
I created a simple all words, no flashy stuff blog where I chronicle my everyday which means I blog daily. If this seems interesting or if you just wanna see what goes on in my head in a span of 365 days, check it out. It's more of a personal blog and not intended for an audience, but if you'd like to visit it, just go. It's much more of a mess than Sempiternal Reader is though, so fair warning.

Click here if you're sure you want to read what goes on in my head. Highly advisable that you don't click it though!

Scorch Trials Movie Trailer Reaction!

Tuesday, May 19, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
It's called Scorch Trials,
Not Maze Runner 2.

Okay, first and foremost, watch the trailer to Scorch Trials (the 2nd movie after The Maze Runner,  which if you have not watched, you must).

Give me a minute to breathe and restrain myself from typing all of the next sentences in all caps.

Okay, I'm good.

I have absolutely no idea if my expectations were just too high or I imagined it to be so much like the book, but I didn't love the trailer for several reasons which I will now tell you.

WHAT?
The story the trailer is trying to portray is so far out. I mean, WHY ARE THEY ESCAPING? What's with all the other people? Why are they hanging upside down on the ceiling?

What's with Dylan O'Brien sliding on the floor? Okay, that, I gotta admit was pretty awesome. I get that they had to make adjustments to the movie, but I hope it doesn't stray too far from the book.

Was that supposed to be RAT MAN?
Why doesn't he look like.. well.. Rat Man? He's supposed to be this lanky, old, and mysterious guy that is cautious about the distance between him and the Gladers. What's with the passing a WCKD folder to Thomas?

Anyway, even though I didn't love the trailer, I did enjoy watching and it made me more excited for the actual movie! The cinematography in a matter of minutes was stunning, just like the first movie. It sets a darker vibe, which is exactly like the 2nd book (amazeballs!).

I'm also looking forward to seeing new cast members add to the story and suspense of it all. James Dashner, the author of the Maze Runner trilogy, was there during the entire shoot and I trust all the decisions he makes regarding the changes from book to movie.

Needless to say, I am so excited to see the movie! And come on, who would deny oneself of Ki Hong Lee a.k.a. Minho in black? People look better in black. Admit it.

The trailer portrayed a quite a different story from the book, if it's good or not, I am yet to know when the movie officially comes out in September!

September, come at me! I am ready for you.

Are you as excited as I am? Share the hype!

The "A" in LAMP,
Andrea

P.S.
WHERE WERE THE CRANKS? I was so ready to be horrified. But I guess they're a surprise and are meant to freak people out in the big screens!

CHEESEBALL BLURBS

Monday, May 18, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Recently I found myself posting things that I felt I needed to post. I realized that this is my blog and I post what I want to and although traffic is good, I'm not posting to be famous or known, and I kind of forgot that during the past few weeks. I started this blog because I love to write and today, that is exactly what I'm going to do.

It's been a long while since I wrote a one-shot or anything original story related and since I have this habit of compiling dialogue or lines or events that randomly pop inside my head when I'm doing something, I decided to share some with you guys.

Most of the lightning ideas I have are about the on-going story I'm working on, Gehenna, but I do have a couple that are just cheesy lines that I think might be useful in the future when I'm working on a fanfic or anything under chick lit or of that sort. I'll also include some of my favorite cheeseball lines from books and movies I love.

Without further ado, the Cheeseball Blurbs blog post!

Yes, that happens to be a picture of cheese and books.

Free Comic Book Day 2015!

Andrea Fails to Review: The Anatomy of a Misfit (Chick Lit Week: Day 4)

Friday, May 01, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

I don't think this is a review anymore as I have failed to actually finish the book. It's more of a rant, I suppose. If you're interested in this or the reasons behind failing to finish it, I would suggest that you keep reading.

A synopsis from Goodreads:

Outside, Anika Dragomir is all lip gloss and blond hair—the third most popular girl in school. Inside, she’s a freak: a mix of dark thoughts, diabolical plots, and, if local chatter is to be believed, vampire DNA (after all, her father is Romanian). But she keeps it under wraps to maintain her social position. One step out of line and Becky Vilhauer, first most popular girl in school, will make her life hell. So when former loner Logan McDonough shows up one September hotter, smarter, and more mysterious than ever, Anika knows she can’t get involved. It would be insane to throw away her social safety for a nerd. So what if that nerd is now a black-leather-jacket-wearing dreamboat, and his loner status is clearly the result of his troubled home life? Who cares if the right girl could help him with all that, maybe even save him from it? Who needs him when Jared Kline, the bad boy every girl dreams of, is asking her on dates? Who?

Andrea Reviews: Lola and the Boy Next Door (Chick Lit Week: Day 3)

Friday, May 01, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

I happen to be very proud of myself for getting this far with the reviews. Day 3 of our Chick Lit Week is Lola and the Boy Next Door! According to Goodreads, it is the 2nd book to Anna and the French Kiss which means it's actually a series. Look at that, just beginning and we're already learning something new.

There are spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Also, I guess it would be good to note that I've heard a lot of people love this book. I didn't. And if you think there's a possibility of you murdering me after reading this, please discontinue and skip this one.

Goodreads summary:

Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Andrea Continues to Try to Review: Anna and the French Kiss (Chic Lit Week: Day 2)

Wednesday, April 29, 2015 2 Comments A+ a-

I HAVE CONQUERED LAZINESS! Okay, no, not really. I'm probably going to end up writing this review part by part. Like, a paragraph today, a paragraph tomorrow, so on and so forth. Anywaaay, as promised, Day 2 of Chic Lit Week is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins!

As per usual, a summary from Goodreads:

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

Andrea Tries to Review: Eleanor & Park (Chic Lit Week: Day 1)

Sunday, April 26, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

I guess I should have explained the whole "Chic Lit Week" idea on a separate post before writing this one, but, alas, I am very lazy. Anyway, I wanted to take a break from dystopian novels and sci-fi in general, so I took it upon myself to choose 7 chic lit (or at least I sort them as under chic lit) novels to finish. I'm not really expecting to finish all in just one week, but the whole metaphor kinda fit. The 7 books represent a week. The first book I picked up is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell.

Here's a summary from Goodreads:
Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor
... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.

Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

Truly, madly, deeply
I am foolishly, completely falling
And somehow you kicked all my walls in
So baby say you'll always keep me truly, madly, crazy, deeply in love with you

Warning: This is a very emotional post concerning a certain boy band. If you don't like them or think that this is completely pathetic (e.g. my family), I suggest you stop reading and do something else. If not, then continue. Thank you.

Also, I highly suggest you listen to Truly, Madly, Deepy by One Direction while you read this.

Obligatory (Re-)Introduction Post!

Thursday, April 23, 2015 4 Comments A+ a-

Guess who found a black box at home and decided to waste white ink on it?

Hi! I'm aliiiive! Not that I was ever dead, but.. anyway, I am literally so frustrated on how this blog went. I started with so much excitement and overflowing ideas and yet, yesterday I was contemplating whether to delete it or just make it invisible (private is a more appropriate word, but invisible sounds better). But my brain kicked in and screamed, NAY! We shall not get rid of this blog nor keep it out from the eyes of the public. And so here I am. With the blog still up and fueled with new ideas and excitement.

As much as I wanted to get a super clean start, I didn't want all my previous posts to just *poof* be deleted. So, here I am with a semi-clean start! I found the need for a re-introduction post because I want to start again and I guess this is the best way possible. I also re-named the blog, as you may or may not have noticed.

It's Lumos! because the letters LAMP are literally my initials and lamps produce light. Lumos is the spell used in Harry Potter to produce light (three claps for creativity, word play, and coincidences). And the exclamation point is to show how enthusiastic and excited (and redundant) I am about the whole blog!

I'm not yet sure if I'm going to stick to the blog address, but we'll see. If my OCD side kicks in and I spaz about the difference in my blog name and blog address/url, I'll probably change it. But for the mean time, I'm sticking with sempiternal-reader.blogspot.com (no matter how extremely pretentious it sounds).

Alright, let us begin the (re-) introductions.

First and foremost, nothing has changed, I still suck at introductions. But I try.

I am Andrea Skylark (obviously not my real last name, but it clicks and I like how it sounds and I used to have a crush on Chip Skylark from Fairly Odd Parents). I just turned 16 a few weeks ago. I'm from the tropical country, Philippines. And it is very hot here (no exaggeration). I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My favorite color is green and blue and bluegreen. I love Harry Potter with a passion. I obsess over a LOT of things (again, no exaggeration). And I like stuffed animals and cartoons even though people think I seriously shouldn't.

Lumos! is where I get to write things, post them, and let other people read it. I try not to over-share my life. I try.

The "A" in LAMP,
Andrea

P.S.
Ali, if you're reading this I'm really sorry I couldn't do your Soundtrack of My Life Tag, I already did one just recently and I don't think a lot changed since then. But thank you for tagging me! =D ((also I don't know why I didn't just reply to your comment instead of putting it here.. but yeah))

Also, if you're not Ali, go on over to Ali's blog: http://aliologies.blogspot.com/ because it's awesome and I love it and I love you. Okay bye.

Of Metaphorical Resonances and Pretentious Opinions

I started a new blog!

Type, Prom Prep, and Shakespeare (AND ALL TIME LOW!)

Sunday, February 22, 2015 2 Comments A+ a-

5 days 'til prom *sigh* I already have a dress and shoes, but I only tried it on once and not sure if too lazy or.. yeah, I'm just too lazy. I've looked up a few ideas up online but I'm still completely unsure about how I want to go with my hair and, well, face. I have zero self-confidence when wearing a dress (specially an ultra formal one) plus make-up. I've been thinking about it for days and I guess it's not too late to back out? I definitely would... If it wasn't for my promdate. I really like him and of course I'd love to see him in a tux. If only he didn't have to see me in a dress. Ugh. I really feel like I'm going to end up looking sloppy. But, hey check out this invitation one of my batchmates prepared! Everyone's still choosing an invitation design, but I really, really like this one:

Also, all prom-related things aside, I've been practicing my typography skillz for a while now and I feel great about it. I now have this special relationship with calligraphy (or type) pens and blank unlined papers. Amazing. Still can't draw for poop though.

Aside from prom and typography and, well, schoolwork, a great amount of my weekend and free time is taken by our english project. A Shakespearean movie. We're filming A Midsummer Night's Dream and I helped with the script and am also playing as a minor character. I was pretty excited about this because 1. I'm a blooming Shakespearean enthusiast, 2. I am very fond of turning Shakespeare's words into visual art (literally. Will upload some snaps soon), and 3. A chance to regain my honor.. er.. redeem myself (we failed the last time we were given the task to create a newscast about Beowulf, etc.).

idk about you, but this shot of Demetrius, Helena, Hermia, and Lysander looks great!

So, yeah, that's life right now. I wish I could tell you more exciting news, but alas, life at the moment is but fun (did I use too many buts?). What about you, fellow bloggers/readers/blog stalkers? I wanna hear about your life as well! Link me up to your blog or a specific blog post or just tell me anything down at the comments below and I'll be back soon! =)

P.S.
All Time Low returns to the Philippine shores this 12th of August 2015! =) *aggresively tries to find every piece of money I can* Pulp Royalty and VIP tickets sold out within 18 minutes =(((((( but I ain't losing hope! I. AM. GOING.

'Til then!

Huge thanks to Sarah from A Glimpse of Blue for tagging me! =)

1.   Songs you listen to when you're happy?
  >   Mostly All Time Low party songs like I Feel Like Dancin' and Something's Gotta Give (okay this might not be a party song), but I always find myself wading through other genres, I listen to Ed Sheeran as well and some (very) rare times, I listen to Taylor Swift.

2. Songs you listen to when you're sad?
  >   There's a special part in my heart for Endlessly (The Script), Sad Song (We The Kings), Lego House (Ed Sheeran), Amelia (Tonight Alive), Welcome to the Black Parade (My Chemical Romance) and Nothing (The Cab). A lot more bands/artists alike.

3. What was the last song you listened to?
  >   Say You Like Me by We The Kings. I actually made a little thing for that..

4. What's the most musically involved you have ever been?
  >   We once had this event called a Jubilee in church where we get to sing to general authorities of our church organization and I was one of the (many) singers. But this was, what, 7-ish years ago and now me singing is relatively comparable to nails on a chalkboard (no kidding).

5. Name four or more flawless albums
*aggresively restrains myself from enumerating all 1D albums or all ATL albums*
  >   Dirty Work (All Time Low)
  >   Four (One Direction)
  >   On Your Side (A Rocket to the Moon)
  >   Mayday Parade (Self-titled album)
  >   Collide With the Sky (Pierce the Veil)
  >   Other Side (Tonight Alive)

6. What is your favourite movie soundtrack?
  >   Always had a soft spot for Hunger Games OST. But I guess it's a tie between that and TFIOS.

7. What was your last musical "phase" before you wisened up?
  >   I had this whole emo phase right before my fangirl (I don't really consider 1D as an unwise music choice) days. I used to obsess over emo bands and artists so much. Avril Lavigne was my inspiration for every. single. thing. I tried to copy her hair, the way she dressed, the heavy eye liner, everything. And I listened to bands like  Secondhand Serenade, FM Static, Boys Like Girls, and the lot. Oh don't get me wrong though, these bands are amazing too!

8. What's your "guilty pleasure" that you hate to admit liking?
  >   I could say All Time Low (being quite religious and quiet, people never really expect me to like these guys), but I've always found it hard to admit that I used to fangirl over One Direction (I still listen to them, yes, but I'm not as obsessed//dedicated to them as I was before). And I don't mean just listening to them or stalking them or saving pictures of them. I used to be an admin of a page dedicated to them, a member of the Directioners' group in my entire country, have countless (okay, not countless, but a LOT) of merch from in and out of the country, notebooks, pens, posters, albums, autopics, sling bags, pillows, you name it. I also stalked them 24/7. I spent a lot of money on my mobile data just so I could know what they were up to even if I was in school. I also wrote a huge amount of fanfictions. And being a Ziall girl, I made too many manips and was brave enough to stick 'em to my wall (they're no longer there!). Sooo, yeah. That's my guilty pleasure.

9. Song that makes you lose your sh*t at a party?
  >   First of all, I have absolutely no idea what they actually play in parties because I never really go to parties (1. hate being squished around, 2. height problems, 3. for some reason the thought scares me). But, I'll just go with Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy (is this even a party song???¿) and any All Time Low part song, really.

10. Song you play on your headphones when out and about?
Anything, really. Okay, maybe with the exception of the loud bands. When I'm out and about I try to keep the volume level down a bit so I can still be aware of my surroundings (this sounds really nerdy, but hey better safe than sorry, right?).

It was fun doing this and I definitely enjoyed. I hope to hear other bloggers' answers to these questions sooo..

A Very Lucky Friday the 13th

Friday, February 13, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Let's cut it straight to the point because I am (seriously) procrastinating at life right now since I kinda have a script and a few other school stuff to work on. Okay, surprisingly, friday the 13th went extremely well for me. Not that I believe it truly holds  bad luck, but hey, I didn't believe it gave good luck as well. I actually thought of writing a poem to sum up this day, but I lack the creativity at the moment (not to mention time) and I was scared that if I try to procrastinate the day I write this, I'll start forgetting the whole thing.

This week has been really sucky. My monday was an absolute catastrophe, forgetting my house keys and all, the rest of the week didn't go well too. Thursday, the day before the 13th, I wasn't able to go to school because I literally felt like crap. I had so much to do the night before that and I pulled an all-nighter, thinking I could handle it. Yes, well, I couldn't. It was such a crappy week and I seriously had to drag myself out of bed just to go to school. A great start, sarcastically speaking.

But, hey, things started to turn around as we surprised our former adviser with a song, a cake, and chocolates. Tear-jerker moment. I had this little reunion with all my classmates last school year which was awesome. I missed them a lot.

Remember how I told you we're having prom? Yes, well, of course it's the season for promposals (prom date proposals, just in case it ain't uhh.. obvious). I am completely unsure if I'm going to tell you what happened, but yeah, a guy asked me to prom. And not just some guy. He's the guy I've been crushing on for quite a long time and wow talk about a moment of bliss. He devised this pretty plan and well, to cut things short, he ended up having the most important people in my life (in school, ofcourse) hold out letters that spell out "Will you be my prom date?" while he played the violin.

ignore the height difference

so screwed if any of my schoolmates/friends see this

um he gave me these

I was exploding inside. I said yes (who wouldn't??), and I'm not so comfortable sharing it here, but it made me the happiest person alive. It was literally the best ending to the crappiest week. And well, this basically explains the photo I used at the top of this post. It's just so insane and I still couldn't believe it actually happened. As cheesy at it sounds, my crush asked me to prom and heck, I don't know how to fully express how happy I am (the struggle to restrain myself from using all caps is real).

talk about aesthetics

P.S. Advanced Happy Valentine's Day, lovely internet people! =)

The Comeback + Typography Sample!

Monday, February 09, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Nope, nope, I ain't here to make another set of false promises to stick to a blogging schedule or to write daily or to be really active. I'm here to say hi! And to apologize for yet another writing hiatus. I actually DID FINISH THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS TAG but had no internet connection during the holidays since we were way up in the North (Isabela, to be exact) and I was too ashamed to post them so late. Anyway, if you do want to see them, I would probably put them up here somewhere soon, but I'll let future me figure out how in the future.

Okay, so back to the main thing. I'm here to say that I'm still going to blog. But instead of establishing a strict schedule, I'll let myself decide when I want to write. I don't want to force myself to sit down and type (since all the things that I write at that moment turns to poo). So instead of treating blogging as a task, I'll treat it as a hobby. Not something that I HAVE to do, but something that I WANT to do (*claps for being so motivational*).

That's basically all I wanted to say, but I'm also gonna slip it in there that I'm taking typography more seriously now and actually started my pen collection a few weeks back to the beginning of 2015. Here's a little experiment I did with a 03 Sakura Micron Pigma and 0.7 Unipin;

It's a lyric from Check Yes, Juliet by We The Kings (the current song I CAN'T get out of my head). I'm planning on working with Zig pens pretty sure since brush pens look so fun! =D (((although I'm poor as dirt at the moment, sooo)))

I also found myself writing these short rambles about lotsa random things. It has become some kind of collection of short shitty one-shots. And of course, I'll be putting those up as well. Soon. Maybe. Probably, Yeah.

And before I forget, we have prom! Be not deceived though, I'm not exactly very keen to go, but it will be fun (or at least I hope so) and it's a great chance to bond with friends, so here's to a memorable one! =) Did a little thing..
That's all for now. Hear from ya soon!

Andrea
(I swear I'll work on a hand-written siggy, scan it, and use it. SOON!!)
